Gillette Superstars Flown to Cincinnati

Over the last couple of weeks several dozen “potential” candidates were flown from Boston to Cincinnati. Procter and Gamble trying to avoid a complete brain drain decided to bring these individuals out to see the facilities and sites, and to speak with P&G management. During the visit “some” of the Gillette employees were made offers for employement, while other’s were told that P&G was interested in having them stay on, but that there were no jobs for them at this time. The latter still better than those employees who, at the same time back home, were notified that there services were no longer required.

P&G has stated that all employees would know their fate within 6 months of the October 1 merger date. Starting with Gillette’s top executives, P&G has been working its way down through the organization.

The news given to Gillette employees can range from permanent job offers, to transitional job offers for up to several years, to notification that the job has been eliminated. When that happens, the employee could be given a chance at another job or offered a separation package.
